Yes, it is free and every feature is included — no subscription, and no purchase is required to unlock anything. The app shows no ads and does not use analytics tracking. There is an optional one-time "Support the developer" tip inside the app, but it is never required and it does not unlock features.

No. There is no sign-up and no sign-in. The app works as soon as you install it, and because there are no accounts there is nothing stored about you on a server.

The app itself is small. On first use it downloads its offline voice model once — about 60 MB for the default model — and after that recitation feedback works without a network connection. Larger, higher-accuracy models are optional and can be chosen in Settings. The 99 Names of Allah practice has its own one-time content pack.

Pick a passage by Surah or by Juz, up to 10 verses at a time. Tap record and recite the selected verses aloud — a live waveform shows the app is hearing you — then stop. You will get a summary, your verses with any slips marked, a "What we heard" card showing what was transcribed, and a mistakes list explaining each one. Your last passage is remembered for next time.

In two separate steps. First, an offline voice model turns your recorded audio into text, on your device. Second, the app compares that text against the verses you selected using transparent alignment — and that comparison is what decides which words count as correct, substituted, missed, or extra. The model only turns audio into text; it does not decide the verdict.

It is a practice helper, not a judge. The offline model is not correct 100% of the time: it can mark a correct word as wrong, and it can miss a real mistake. Background noise, a very fast or very quiet voice, or a weak microphone all lower accuracy. For a true and trusted check of your recitation, please learn with a qualified teacher (Qari or Ustadh).

Almost always this is a transcription slip rather than a real mistake in your recitation. Open the "What we heard" card on the result screen — it shows exactly what the model transcribed, so you can tell the two apart. Reciting in a quieter room, holding the phone a little closer, keeping a steady pace, and checking a shorter passage all help. You can also switch to a larger, higher-accuracy model in Settings.

No. The check works at word level — which words the app heard, compared with the words in the verse — so it will not grade the finer points of articulation, elongation, or ghunnah. What it does give you is a built-in guide to the rules of Tajweed to study, plus reference recitations from well-known reciters to listen to and imitate.

Up to 10 verses in a single attempt. Shorter passages are easier for the offline model to transcribe accurately, so if the results look noisy, try trimming the range and reciting it again.

No. Your recitation is recorded and processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to our servers — there is no online mode for recitation checking. Your results, bookmarks, settings, and any recitation you choose to save live only on your phone.

Recitation feedback works offline once the voice model has been downloaded, and the Qur'an text is bundled with the app. Internet is used only for streaming reference recitation audio, loading optional Tafsir and word-by-word meanings, and the one-time downloads (the voice model and the 99 Names pack). The app checks for a connection first and shows a gentle message if you are offline, instead of failing silently.

So it can record your recitation after you tap Record, and draw the live waveform that shows it is hearing you. Microphone access is active only while you are recording or playing audio in the app.

Not by default — your recitation audio is used for feedback and then not kept. If you want to keep and replay your recordings, turn on "Save my recitation audio" in Settings under Recite settings. Saved recordings stay in the app's private storage, are never uploaded, and can be deleted from the result screen or by clearing your history.

Your name, bookmarks, reading history, settings, and recitation results — all stored locally on your device to let you carry on where you left off. You can clear it in the app, clear the app's storage from Android settings, or uninstall the app. Because there are no user accounts, there is no online account to delete.

The app does not sell personal or sensitive user data, and does not share your locally stored app data or recitation audio with anyone. When you stream reference audio, download the voice model, or open Tafsir and word-by-word meanings from the public quran.com API, those providers receive basic technical request information such as your IP address in order to deliver the files — never your recitation audio or your personal app data.

Five renowned reciters: Abdul Basit Abdus-Samad, Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, Mohamed Siddiq Al-Minshawy, and Abdurrahman As-Sudais. The audio is streamed from EveryAyah.com. The player has previous/next, a seek bar, playback speed, and repeat for drilling a passage.

As the reference recitation plays, each word lights up in time with the audio — both in the player and right on the page — so you can follow exactly where the reciter is. The timing comes from prepared reference data, so it marks the expected place in the verse: it is not a check of your own pronunciation, and it may not be available for every verse.

Yes. Memorize mode lets you practice from memory with progressive word-by-word and ayah-by-ayah reveal, so you recall as much as you can before uncovering the rest, with a progress bar tracking how much you have uncovered.

A dedicated practice area separate from the rest of the app: you can hear and recite a whole verse, or learn the 99 Names of Allah, and every attempt is scored with an instant match percentage. It runs on-device and keeps its own selection, so it will not disturb the passage you are working through elsewhere.

Yes. You can show a translation alongside the Arabic, and open Tafsir (commentary) and word-by-word meanings for any verse. That text is loaded from the public quran.com API when you open those screens; editions include Tafsir Ibn Kathir (Abridged), Ma'arif al-Qur'an, and Tazkirul Quran.

Yes. The Khatm tracker follows your progress through a complete reading, and you can set a gentle daily reminder to keep your practice consistent. Reminders are scheduled and shown entirely on your device, and they are off until you turn them on.

Yes. You can choose between Arabic fonts, adjust the text size, and turn translation on or off. You can also save bookmarks, search both the Arabic text and the translation, browse all 30 Juz, and get a fresh Verse of the Day each day.

Quran Reciter Tutor is published for Android through Google Play. The Download page always has the current link, the version number, and the requirements.

Not at the moment — Quran Reciter Tutor is an Android app, and Android is the only platform it is available on today. If an iOS version is something you would use, do send a note by email; it helps to know there is demand.
